Granoro's Hot Pepper Sauce is made with the famous hot chilli peppers from Calabria, freshly chopped straight after picking. Grown in Calabria (Italy), their nutritional properties, acknowledged since ancient times, remain unaltered when eaten raw or lightly heated. The vitamins contained within, Vitamin C, PP, E (a natural antioxidant that reduces the blood cholesterol level), K, P and A and the mineral salts (potassium, copper, iron, etc) are thermolabile and are destroyed at temperatures above 70°C. Calabrian hot chilli peppers also contain capsaicin and citrus flavonoids, principles that reactivate circulation, strengthen liver and kidney functions, favour digestion and are good for the heart.
Granoro’s Calabrian Hot Pepper Sauce is therefore produced in a natural, authentic manner, without the use of preservatives or colorants (the proof is in the labels of our Hot Pepper Sauce) and is only produced during August and September, when the fresh chilli peppers are harvested. It is preserved using only extra virgin olive oil and packaged in glass jars, stabilised during the sterilisation process.
RECOMMENDED USE
Granoro’s Calabrian Hot Pepper Sauce is a condiment that can be eaten as it is because it is a natural product. It is excellent for preparing tasty crostini (typical Italian appetizers made with small pieces of toasted bread) or for spreading onto slices of warm, lightly toasted bread, on savoury tarts or with boiled eggs or boiled potatoes.
Lightly warmed in a pan it can be served with meat, grilled fish or boiled meats.
Added to Granoro’s ready-made pasta sauces, a homemade tomato sauce or a classic meat sauce, it is perfect with all of Granoro’s pasta shapes, adding a pleasantly spicy touch of flavour.
