Granoro Thai Parboiled Rice is a fine rice originating from Thailand but grown in Italy, which has a long grain, crystal clear in colour. During cooking, it releases a characteristic and exotic aroma of spices, with a delicate flavour. It is good for steaming, perfect served with meat, fish or vegetable dishes or as a side dish with cold dishes, is excellent for making rice salads and also for use in Asian cookery. Thai Rice is parboiled thanks to a special heat treatment process performed with steam called parboiling, from which its name originates. This process calls for rapid drying of the rice once the high-temperature and high-pressure steam treatment has been completed. The grains will then become amber coloured and translucent, will withstand cooking and be capable of trapping vitamins, fibres, mineral salts and flavour. This process makes it more nutritious than whole rice processed using conventional methods. The 1 kg packs of Granoro rice are packaged in paper and film and in a protected atmosphere (MAP: Modified Atmosphere Packaging), which guarantees consistent quality, from the day of packaging until the pack is opened. Protected atmosphere packaging offers a range of benefits: - increased level of hygiene, in line with HACCP methods, improving conservation times in a perfectly sealed environment and guaranteeing conservation protected from parasite infestations. - increased conservation time (shelf life), that is to say the period for which the product meets its distinctive specifications with regard to composition and sensory and nutritional qualities. This method of packaging ensures rice maintains its quality for longer. - sensory, nutritional and authentic characteristics are maintained: protected atmosphere packaging maintains these characteristics for longer and enhances them.
